May 2026: Galiot Publishing Prep Workshop (virtual)

Total cost:

$750

Application deadline: Friday, May 1, 2026

Join Anjali, Henriette, and two literary agents—(Lori Galvin and another to be announced)— for a three-day workshop focused on preparing your manuscript for querying or submission.

Meeting over Zoom, this multi-session workshop will help you get your novel, memoir, or creative nonfiction ready to send out to agents and editors.

Over the first evening and the next two mornings, you’ll receive constructive critique on your sample pages, query letter, synopsis, and log line in small-group sessions led by the instructors. On the third day, two agents will review these materials and provide one-on-one feedback and advice.

Afternoons will be on your own, with time to draft or revise your query materials. The workshop will end with an Ask Me Anything session with the agents and editors.

Tentative Schedule (all times Eastern):

Wednesday, Thursday, May 13:

6:00-8:30pm: Intro, Synopsis class, Query class

We’ll go over the basics that make up a good one-page synopsis. Sometimes agents will request this particular and challenging (!) element as part of their submission requirements. We’ll discuss the essential elements of a good query, and we’ll give you some online resources you can consult as you create or revise your own.

Thursday, May 14:

Morning: on your own

12:00-2:00: Query Letter Workshop

Bring in your queries, whether brand new or old, and we’ll workshop them after reading them aloud in class.

2:00-3:00: On your own, revise your query

3:00-5:00: Synopsis Workshop

You’ll read your synopses aloud and then we’ll workshop them together.

5:00-6:00: On your own, revise your synopsis

6:00: Turn in all materials for Saturday’s agent review

Friday, May 15:

10:00-12:00: Sample pages workshop

We’ll spend a half hour on each person’s 10-page sample in a group workshop. Each participant will read all of each other’s pages ahead of time and be ready to provide constructive feedback.

Afternoon and evening on your own

Saturday, May 16 (subject to adjustment based on number of participants):

9:00-5:00: One-on-One with Agents

Each participant spends a half-hour with each of the agents.

5:00-6:00: Happy Hour Ask-Me-Anything

Pour yourself your favorite beverage and enjoy a Zoom Happy Hour conversation with both agents and both editors.

Participation in this workshop is no guarantee of publication by Galiot Press or representation by the participating agents.
